Fruit, Veg & Herb Plants

At Greenshutters Garden Centre, we have a selection of fruit, vegetable and herb plants.

Vegetable Plants

Tomato Plants

There is nothing like the taste of home-grown vegetables, freshly dug new potatoes and the first harvest of broad beans.

There is no garden too small to grow a selection of vegetables, growing in containers or growbags is a very productive way and also hanging baskets for tomatoes and strawberries give good yields of succulent fruits.

We hold a good range of seasonal vegetable plants throughout the year and seed potatoes, onion sets and garlic are available late winter and spring.  Mr Fothergills and Franchi Seeds offer a good range of vegetable seed which are available in our shop.

Herbs

Thyme Silver Posie

A herb garden is a wonderful addition to any garden, we stock the everyday herbs such as parsley, basil (in season), sage, thymes and also the more unusual herbs like salad burnett, lemon verbena, cedronella triphylla (Balm of Gilead) and English mace (achillea ageratum).

Herbs can be planted in herbaceous borders, among fruit trees and used for companion planting.  Most herbs attract bees and butterflies brining these beneficial insects into your garden.  Finding out about the medicinal and culinary uses of herbs is fascinating and is it easy to become hooked on these amazing plants.

Soft Fruit

Blackcurrants

Many varieties of soft fruit are easy to grow and most taste better eaten straight from the plant. Varieties of Strawberry, Gooseberry, Redcurrant, Blackcurrant, Blueberry, Blackberry, Loganberry and Rhubarb are available.

Raspberry varieties are generally available as “bare-root” canes from December to March.
