Greenshutters Garden Centre Newsletter April 2026

Spring is here with longer days and warmer temperatures, especially on sunny afternoons. The warmth has brought our gardens back to life and it is a wonderful time to be outside enjoying the colours and scents of spring.

At the moment, the garden centre is looking its very best. Our Flowering Cherries are putting on a spectacular display, with masses of blossom creating a real highlight of spring. Alongside them, the elegant blooms of the later flowering Magnolia, such as Magnolia Yellow Bird, and the delicate flowers of our Crab Apple trees are looking absolutely stunning, making this the perfect time to choose an ornamental tree for your garden.

We also now have a fantastic range of summer bedding plants available, including Geraniums, Fuchsias, Bacopa, Begonias, and Petunias. These are perfect for adding vibrant colour to your beds, borders, and containers in the months ahead. Do remember, however, that while the days may feel warm, frost is still a risk. It’s important to protect these tender plants—keep them in a greenhouse or under a cloche, or cover them with fleece on colder nights.

In addition, we have a wide selection of herbaceous perennials and shrubs in stock, with new varieties arriving all the time—plenty of inspiration for gardeners of every level.
